Dharma Bums

Dharma Bums is the musical project that expresses the sound universe created by double bassist and composer Gianni Narduzzi. The name is a tribute to the book of the same name by Jack Kerouac, whose central theme is the journey—both physical and internal—and the search for a place. The questioning and search for the ideal place represent the leitmotif of the musical stories the musicians tell.

 

The band forms a quintet that blends elements of composed and improvised music, drawing from a wide range of sonic influences as well as literary and cinematic inspirations.

 

The project was born at the end of 2019 in Porto, driven by Gianni Narduzzi. The quintet recorded its first album, *Dharma Bums*, in late 2021, and it was released at the beginning of 2022, published by Carimbo Porta-Jazz.
