Biography

Born in 1997, Gianni Narduzzi is originally from Rome, Italy, and currently lives in Basel, Switzerland, where he is involved in various musical projects spanning different genres such as jazz, pop, and rock. He is currently studying jazz pedagogy at the Jazzcampus in Basel under the guidance of instructors like Larry Grenadier, Baenz Oester, and Jorge Rossy.
He is a member of the Basel Jazz Orchestra (BJO), where he works as both a bassist and an arranger. In recent years, Gianni has had the opportunity to perform and record professionally with various international artists, including Guillermo Klein, Yumi Ito, Travis Reuter, Jeremy Viner, Chris Wiesendanger, and Christoph Grab.
He previously earned his Master's degree in Jazz Performance at the Jazzcampus Basel and his Bachelor's degree in Jazz Double Bass at ESMAE, the Escola Superior de Música e Artes do Espetáculo in Porto, Portugal, under the mentorship of musicians like Demian Cabaud, Pedro Guedes, and Paulo Perfeito. Gianni's musical journey is currently primarily connected with the Swiss jazz scene, after having played mainly in Porto and northern Portugal earlier in his career.
In 2022, he made his debut as a bandleader with the release of “Dharma Bums”. The album, which consists entirely of original compositions, was recorded in July 2021 at the renowned OJM - Orquestra Jazz de Matosinhos studios and contributes to numerous collaborations in the Portuguese music scene.
Additionally, Gianni Narduzzi is a co-leader and composer of the Portuguese ensemble "Vazio e o Octaedro," whose self-titled debut album was released in 2022 on the Porta Jazz label. At the beginning of 2022, the debut album “Koinè” by the band of the same name, mainly consisting of Brazilian musicians, was also unveiled. Gianni showcases his skills on double bass, electric bass, and tenor saxophone, while also serving as a composer and arranger.
Furthermore, he is part of Yuri Storione’s flamenco quartet, with which he has performed in Switzerland and Spain.
